SHARP NEEDLE INTRADERMAL FAT GRAFTING

SNIF method uses the patient’s own fat that is engineered in the same way as in MICROFAT GRAFTING, i. e. with small perimeter cannulas and 1 millimetre holes.

The difference between these two methods for fat injecting is SNIF is used to smoother fine lines in the most superficial layer of dermis around the mouth, between the eyebrows, fine neckline lines, nasolabial and puppet lines, for lip sculpturing; the procedure requires very sharp 27G needles.

There are some serious concerns when using sharp 27G needles and possible complication. The authors of the method, Tonnard and Verpaele, claim that it is virtually impossible if we apply the right technique and inject local anaesthetics with adrenalin. The adrenalin will provoke spasms of small capillaries and therefore the intravascular injection is minimal. Both of them have already performed more than five hundred SNIF procedures without any significant side effects!

We need to point out that SNIF method is a safe and effective alternative to temporary intradermal hyaluronic acid fillers, which are usually distributed with needles, sometimes anaesthetics without adrenalin is used locally.

As we use patient’s own fat it does not disintegrate in time, therefore the effect compared to that of intradermal fillers (last 3-6 months only) lasts for quite some time. As we need to draw the fat prior to the procedure – that seems to be the only minor inconvenience which can change into a big advantage. We take the fat from the lower abdomen, love handles or inner tights and knees.

Possible side effects: minor bruises and swelling, that disappear in a short time.
