SCULPTURING LOWER FACE AND NECK
In 2007, a Swiss doctor Phillip M. Levy described a technique that can sculpture the lower jawline and helps lift the lip corners by using low dose of botulinum toxin A (BOTOX, BTA).
He named his technique after the beautiful Egyptian queen Nefertiti who was famous for her well-sculptured jawline and fabulous neck.
Mechanism:
The main muscle that pulls down the lower part of the face is Platysma. It is a very thin muscle and a part of SMAS facial system, which is very important in various types of face lifting. Botulinum toxin A (BOTOX) is injected in defined sites of platysma in lower jaw. Botox then paralyses platysma in the injected area and therefore provides for non-restricted movement of muscles that lift up lip corners and lower jaw.
If there are prominent anterior and posterior platysma neckbands as well as horizontal necklace lines, then Botox is injected in specified sites, which helps to significantly reduce the lines and rejuvenate the neck.
Final result is well-defined lower jaw line, lifted lip corners and smooth neck.
Possible side effects:
When preforming Nefertiti lift and treating neck the total dosage of 50U Botox in one series must never be overdosed. In case of overdose the temporary dysphagia or dysphonia may appear.
Duration:
Botox effects can be seen 3-10 days after the treatment and they last for 3-6 months.
